On September 30, 2019, the Legacy Arts Project (LAP) serves as host of the final leg of a four-city tour of the HaitiDansCo. Begun by Haiti native, Dieufel Lamisere, the company serves as a training grounds and safe space for youth of Port au Prince, Haiti. In 2015, the LAP traveled to meet Dieufel and the company, beginning a relationship that has enabled us to now host them in Pittsburgh.
The HaitiDansCo will host two community dance workshops and will be the featured performers of a FABA (For Artists By Artists) Party. Come out and meet the artists, dance traditional dances of Haiti, and see them perform work from their repertoire. This residency provides a great opportunity to experience the culture of Haiti while supporting the artists and their company.
