This is a Contemporary Dance class rooted in Africanist principles. Polyrhythms (creating multiple rhythms in the body), grounded-ness (one’s connection to the Earth), syncopation and endurance act as our foundation. Meanwhile, we use polarities (light/weighted, quick/sustained, internal/external, high/low) as building blocks to create dynamic moving images.
