We'd like to send our thanks out to all who showed their support (parents, staff, teaching artists, the community, and our sponsors) for the youth and programming of The Legacy Arts Project. A wonderful, enriching time was had and we look forward to a great school year!

In addition to the Bara Makono Summer Arts Program, held in conjunction with the Sankofa Village for the Arts, the Legacy Arts Project hosted programming with middle school youth from both the Woodland Hills and Wilkinsburg School Districts. It was an honor to work with masterful artists Saihou Njie, who shared clothing design, and 'Mama' Kadiatou Conte-Forte, who shared West African drumming. In addition, artists Erin Perry and Genia Guirand brought photography/writing and Haitian dance respectively. Facilitated by the Consortium for Public Education, Legacy Arts will be hosting after school programming with middle school youth from Woodland Hills. We're getting ready for the 9th Annual Keepers of the Flame and the 5th Dance Africa, and the youth of Woodland Hills are right in the mix!
Special thanks to the Heinz Endowments and Highmark for Dance Africa; to the Heinz Endowments, Grable Foundation, and Tickets for Kids for the Bara Makono Summer Program; the Pittsburgh Foundation for support of our year-long programming.
