Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

You may not have noticed, but this is the first newsletter since July. The Legacy Arts Project has been on a hiatus-of-sorts, working out some kinks around the mission and vision of the work of the organization. The preservation of arts of the African diaspora still remains paramount, however, we have become explicitly clear about the necessity for, and relevance of, Wellness. We are working to implement a culture of Wellness for the organization, our staff, programming, and partnerships with other organizations. As the keepers of history and tradition, we know that our culture has been a tool for healing. So we call on Ancestors to guide us while, at the same time, we use our creativity to integrate new approaches to Wellness.

As we move into 2018, may we remember and reclaim our power, harnessing our abilities to utilize art as a tool for healing, disbursing Wellness in all the places we travel.

Well-wishes and a Happy New Year to You!!

The Legacy Arts Project and Sankofa Village for the Arts will be performing for the First Night 2018. Check us out at the August Wilson Center at 7:30pm and again at 8:30pm.

Saturday Arts Program Uses Art and Culture for Wellness Sake

It's long been known that art has the ability to change lives. From serving as a means of expression to providing a platform for communication, art gives voice to its creator, regardless of the genre.

The Legacy Arts Project is entering
its second year of Saturday Arts programming and is focused on creating meaningful experiences for youth to strengthen identity, build skills, and be a part of an environment that embraces and welcomes each student, all for Wellness Sake.

We Just Moved!!

As of June 2017, Legacy became a leaseholder of an art-making dance studio. Located at 7501 Penn Avenue (Factory Building with the East End Food Co-Op), Legacy is just a block away from Sankofa Village for the Arts, the former home of the organization. Stay posted for upcoming programming and ways to connect with Legacy, artists, and Wellness.
