Helen's Juke Joint!
This year's production took a trip down memory lane as it recreated a 40s style juke joint that included an esemble cast of actors and performers. The show featured dance, drama and musical performaces all of which encompassed the honoring of the awardees.
"This was the most unique award show i've ever been to." said Chris Moore.
The show was developed around the idea of infusing the presentation of the awards into the actual production. Through the collaborations efforts of Legacy Arts Project members and Michele Betts, the original work culminated in a ground breaking performance with local artists having the opprtunity to perform in front of a packed house of 200 people. Designed to be interactive, performers mingled with the audience, encouraging them to feel comfortable and dance when the show called for it. Many have asked, "What's next?" for Legacy. Please stay tuned, as we will keep you posted.

Thank You!
This production reflected the aspects of a unified community, within and outside of the arts. Nine youth from Homewood and other surrounding neighborhoods served as wait staff at the event. Local businesses provided support by way of finacial contributions. With a cast and crew of more than 40 people, ranging in age from 5 to 85, the production reflected the diversity of the African-American community. This event highlighted the principle of Sankofa, of going back to remember what we have forgotten, and to bringing it forward so that we can build for the future.
